TODAYS REFLECTION 2ND WEEK OF EASTER SAT APRIL 9

TODAYS REFLECTION 2ND WEEK OF EASTER SAT APRIL 9 ( Acts 6: 1-7, Jon 6 :16-21)

#JESUSDEEPLYCARESFOREACHOFUS#

In todays gospel, the basic premise we see is that Jesus meets all our needs, even our most basic ones.  In our land where bounty abounds, it can be easy to overlook the miracle Jesus performs in John’s Gospel.  The people have followed Jesus and are hungry, without access to food or drink. Jesus teaches the disciples, members of the crowd and us, the readers, how we are to embrace our life as creatures: take what is placed before us, give thanks, and share the bounty.

I am deeply touched by Jesus’ effort to welcome everyone and to ensure that everyone has their fill.  Jesus teaches that there is always room for everyone . when we learn, and choose to walk with Christ, our lives will be filled with abundance, in ways we likely cannot predict.  This passage is an important reminder that we are not in control of our lives; rather, we are creatures and dependent on God for our needs.

Beloved, today also, the Lord's sudden presence and his supernatural ability to walk towards his disciples on top of the rough waves of the sea - only made them more fearful! John says they were frightened. And Jesus had to calm them with a reassuring command: "Do not be afraid because I am here with you!".  We like the apostles when we experience moments of darkness, fear, and trials, feel that the Lord  seems absent or very distant to us, he, nonetheless, is always present and close-by. The Scriptures remind us that the Lord is "a very present help in trouble" (Ps 46:1).

Friends lets be assured that the Lord keeps watch over us at all times, and especially in our moments of temptation and difficulty. Jesus assures us that we have no need of fear if we put our trust in him and in his great love and care for us. As we continue in this Easter season, let us pray for our eyes to opened to recognize our brothers and sisters in need   and recognize that in sharing we bring the body of Christ to fulfillment here on earth. BE BLESSED AS WE ARE UNITED IN PRAYERS.
